Cool Off at Chaparral Ice

In Texas, we’ll do just about anything to escape the heat of summer. Why not have fun while you’re cooling down? At Chaparral Ice, there are always friendly and helpful staff and good music. If you feel like taking it a step further, they offer ice-skating classes for a wide range of ages. Even if you’ve never set foot on the ice, Chaparral is the perfect place for both first timers and competitors.

Hours: On most Mondays through Fridays, public skating lasts from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturdays, public skating hours usually go from noon until 4 p.m. (sometimes with a late skate starting at 8 p.m.), and Sundays from 1:15 until 3 p.m., although it’s really best to check the website because public skating hours change due to special events. Chaparral Ice also offers skating lessons and camps.

Admission: $8 and skate rental is $5 (kids 5 and under skate for $5 on Saturday and Sundays, including skate rental). Free, one-time skating lessons are available on Saturdays at noon for beginners ages 6 and up (you still need to pay admission and skate rental). Group rates are also available.

  2. Since Saturday I decided to take my training for the next few weeks into my own hands as the current training and nutrition style was a little too much. I have 15 weeks to go, so not feeling the need to be so drained so far out.
