Watch 4th of July Fireworks

A major milestone of summer is the 4th of July, a holiday commemorated by spectacular fireworks shows which take place across the area. Whether it's your first time taking the kids or if you are looking for a new tradition, you have plenty of ways to catch fireworks across the Austin area:

This family-friendly even celebrates our Nation's Independence. There will be food booths and children's activities, so bring a blanket and enjoy some delicious food and cool refreshing drinks while listening to live music! The viewing for the fireworks display is the Chief Petty Office Stephen "Matt" Mills Bridge spanning the Colorado River and overlooking the park.

Just imagine you, your family and friends lounging at the Bar K Recreational Park on Lake Travis, enjoying a delightful Texas Hill Country sunset and then it starts! "The Star Spangled Banner" is being sung by thousands gathered to honor America and The Grand Old Flag! The oohs and aahs reverberate from hillside to hillside. Happy Birthday, America! "God Bless the USA" is the theme for this year's event. Donations help pay for the fireworks show.

This fantastic FREE event is perfect for the whole family. There will be live music, vendors, children's activities and fireworks. Fireworks take place at about 9:10pm. Parking is available at the festival site. There are two entrances to the Festival. Entrance A is located on US 183A South (between San Gabriel Parkway and Hero Way) and Entrance B is located on Hero Way (between Mel Mathis and US 183A). For more information, click here.

A parade, fireworks, carnival rides, jalapeno eating contest, Swifty Swine Pig Races, children's games, Sam Bass shootout, Movies in the Park and skydivers are all part of the City of Round Rock's July Fourth Frontier Days Celebration. The event is free for the entire family. Independence Day festivities begin with free watermelon at the Lakeview Pavilion in Old Settlers Park and includes music from the Austin Symphonic Band. The SERTOMA Round Rock Veterans Fourth of July Parade moves back to Main Street in Downtown Round Rock. Fireworks begin at dark, and the movie begins right after the fireworks.

Wells Branch is famous for its 4thFest celebration. The day begins with a short parade starting at Katherine Fleischer Park at 10am. Spectators are welcome to line the street to watch. When the parade returns, there will be an afternoon of entertainment under the big tent, concessions from local restaurants and community service groups offering a variety of items to enjoy and activities for the kids. Katherine Fleischer Pool will be open and free to the public. Fireworks are TBA.

Georgetown's SERTOMA 4th of July Celebration

The festivities begin at 11am with over 60 arts and craft booths and 20 food vendors. Kiddie rides, bounce houses and games, along with a petting zoo, are provided for the children. Musical entertainment, featuring some of the best local and central Texas talent, will begin at the Gazebo at noon and will continue all day. A "Hometown Parade", sponsored by the Leadership Georgetown Alumni, begins at 11am at the low water crossing, ending at the Gazebo. Around 9:30pm people will gather to view the "Fabulous Fireworks Finale".

Come to Lake Pflugerville to watch fireworks launch from the southwest shore at dark as we celebrate Independence Day! New for 2016, the festival will take place on the south shore of the lake only. The south shore of the lake will have restricted public entry on July 4 during festival setup. The north shore of the lake and beach are open to the public during the day, though parking lots are closed. Click here for transportation and parking information and here for what to bring.

The Children's Area will be open on the south shore of the lake from 3-8:30pm. PFREE glowsticks will be given away.

Kyle's Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks Show

Starting at 6pm, the pre-show celebration at Plum Creek Golf Course Clubhouse is free to the public and includes live music and fantastic viewing. Hot dogs and cold drinks will be sold under the large tent, along with other snacks. No outside food or drink permitted on the golf course property. Hays CISD Performing Arts Center will entertain with music until the fireworks start. The free public program begins at 7pm. No alcohol permitted on school grounds. When it gets dark enough, around 9:30pm, the fireworks show will launch from the golf course. For information on parking, click here.

H-E-B Austin Symphony July 4th Concert & Fireworks

Approximately 100,000 of Austin's residents head down to Vic Mathias Shores for the city's main fireworks show, set to patriotic tunes provided by the Austin Symphony. The orchestra will perform at 8:30pm, followed by fireworks at about 9:30pm.

Riverside Drive is closed from Lamar to 1st Street, starting at 10am and Cesar Chavez is closed, starting at 6pm, between Mopac and Congress. Northbound and southbound lanes of Mopac will be diverted to 5th Street and Enfield. All streets will be reopened no later than midnight.

Motorized vehicles are prohibited on the trails. The lower portion of the Hike & Bike Trail on the north side of Lady Bird Lake will be closed at 10am.
